Promoted by Centro Studi Primo Levi on the occasion of 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz; from January 22 to April 6.

Primo Levi became a writer to give the world testimony of an experience that was an extreme yet a crucial crossroads in 20th-century history, the genocide of the Jews. His writing as well as his “real” profession as a chemist accompanied him for his whole life.

This is the way that one of most original figures emerged in the culture not only of Italy but also of the entire 20th century. This was the origin of a great body of literary works, that is characterized by a style that was unique in its clarity and rigor (in its strenuous clarity), that crisscrossed and constructed a multitude of lives and places – running through history and science as well as through the dimensions of the infinitely small to those of the Earth itself. The visit to the exhibit is a journey into the worlds of Primo Levi: his calm account of his hard times in a Nazi Lager and his return to life, his science-fiction inventions of future and parallel universes, his amusing yet epic tale of a “global” worker, and his tracing, through the periodic table of the elements, of all of the matter that makes up this planet and the adventures of the very seed of life, a carbon atom that is as old as the world yet alive with us today.
