The interview was realized by Anna Bravo and Federico Cereja, editors of the book, in 1983.

«"Witness of life": in this way Primo Levi describes himself in this important 1983 interview (translated in several countries, such as France, Greece and Argentina). In this intense dialogue with Anna Bravo and Federico Cereja, the author tells the back-world in Auschwitz, made of the daily habits and acts, faces and stories of the characters who live in his books.
At the center of this frank and variegated conversation, we find what he calls "the Lager etiquette", the relationships among the prisoners, the "obtuseness" which helps them surviving in a split world ("us" and "them") where moral - the former one - is not worthy anymore.
