“Sight Translation - Sight Interpreting - Meeting at the Cross Modes", Efsli Conference, Vietri sul Mare (Salerno), 16-18 September 2011

    Among the speakers, Pietro Cielo (Milan-Bicocca University and Ca’ Foscari University) and Valeria Buonuomo (L’Orientale University) talk about translating into sign language poetry through detailed analysis of the poem of Primo Levi, Shemà.

    EFSLI (European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters) is European membership led organisation of Sign Language Interpreters. Each year EFSLI organizes its AGM and a conference with national interpreter organizations. ANIOS, the Italian Association of Sign Language Interpreters, will host the 2011 AGM and the conference in Vietri sul Mare (Salerno), from 16 to 18 September.

    The topic on conference is translating/interpreting from sign language to a written language and vice versa. On September 17th Valeria Buonuomo and Pietro Celo will relate about “Translating poetry” and the difficulties encountered in translating a written text like poetry into sign language through detailed analysis of the poem of Primo Levi, Shemà.
