This year's speaker is Stefano Bartezzaghi. The event takes place in the Great Hall of the School of Natural Sciences, Physics, and Mathematics of the University of Turin.
Every fall, the Primo Levi Lecture proposes a discussion on particular topics of Levi’s works, as they become relevant within the most recent topics of the cultural debate. This year's speaker is Stefano Bartezzaghi, essayist, journalist and Professor of Semiotics of Enigma at the IULM (Free University of Languages and Communication) of Milan, who will discuss linguistic points of interest within Levi’s work, analysing how the linguistic craft of the author allows him to observe and describe humanity and the world with deep insight, and how strongly it influences his writing.
The Lecture is addressed to the general public, but pays particular attention to the younger generations, with the goal of continuing the intense dialogue that Levi used in schools to engage others for such a long period of his life. This year, three classes of the Liceo Cavour – a humanistic high school in Torino – will attend in the Lecture, and meet the lecturer the following day, in order to discuss the topics covered in the Lecture.
The Lecture will then be published and printed in Italian and English by Einaudi.
