The Mark of the Chemist – Dialogue with Primo Levi

Dramatic reading directed and played by Valter Malosti
    Texts chosen by Domenico Scarpa
A Teatro Stabile di Torino production

The audience will be able to see and hear a dramatic reading in the form of a dialogue. Primo Levi, played by Valter Malosti, answers the questions of an anonymous interviewer, played by Domenico Scarpa, the editor of the texts. In a little more than an hour’s time, The Mark of the Chemist runs through the most representative moments of an existential journey where there is an interweaving of the vocation of a scientist, that of a humanist, the experience of the lager, and a faith in the work ethic. It does this through a montage of selections from Primo Levi’s works – stories, narrations of events, essays, letters and poems.
